So much for Ohio State holding down the No. 2 slot in the unofficial Bowl Championship Series standings compiled by the BCS Guru. The Buckeyes, who play at No. 1 USC on Saturday, took a mighty tumble
to the No. 5 after struggling to get past The Ohio University, 26-14.
Moving up to the all-important No. 2 spot is Florida, a 26-3 winner over Miami. Although margin of victory isn't supposed to matter, try telling that to Urban Meyer, who was pouring it on to the end, having Jonathan Phillips kick a 29-yard field goal with 25 seconds left. Classless.
Georgia is No. 3 in the Guru's standings, followed by Oklahoma and the Buckeyes. The rest of the top 10: Louisiana State, Missouri, Texas, Auburn and Wisconsin.
If you're wondering about East Carolina, the current darling of the non-BCS conference world, the Pirates are 16th, one notch ahead of Brigham Young.

Re: Florida kicking FG with 23 seconds left in game.
First of all, the University of Miami is hardly in a position to complain about anyone running up the score.
But more important, Florida's FG kicker had not had an opportunity to kick one up to that point in the season -- I suspect the Meyer was more concerned with giving him a little real game experience than he was with the final score.
