It was a party scene outside Birmingham's Legion Field before Thursday night's Memphis-Alabama Birmingham game. Afterward, not so much. Vinny Zaccario ruined the postgame party by kicking a 25-yard field goal with two seconds left and the Tigers defeated the Blazers, 33-30. Our man Greg was on the scene and sent us photographic evidence of some of the shenanigans.
Memphis fans were breaking out the Lucha Libre masks.
This rivalry has become known as "Battle for the Bones" in honor of the cities' reputations for fine barbecue.
Greg's newest buddy is Blaze, the UAB mascot.
It's The Wiz of Odds, not Oz.
Plenty of good seats were available.
The announced crowd was 19,901, barely enough to pay the light bill.
The Blazers charged to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Tigers scored 20 points in the second quarter and held a 20-16 lead at halftime.
