Talking BCS and the Big East

If you live in the Charleston area, tune in to WCHS 580 at 7:30 Thursday night (Eastern). I'll be a guest of Dave Weekley on "Sportspage of the Air," the longest continuously running sports radio program in West Virginia.

We're planning to discuss the Bowl Championship Series and the Big East race. The BCS is shopping around for its next television contract. The current four-year, $330 million deal with Fox Sports expires in January 2010. As current rights holders, Fox is in the midst of an exclusive 30-day negotiating period that ends Nov. 10.

Dave, a columnist for the Charleston Gazette since 1999, writes that BCS officials might be looking for a long-term deal, much like the 15-year agreement the Southeastern Conference reached with CBS and ESPN/ABC.

In addition to the newspaper gig, Dave also does play-by-play work on ESPN Regional, ESPNU and Fox Sports Net.
