A big pointspread for a big man. Mark Mangino's Kansas Jayhawks are 10-point favorites over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Insight Bowl, one of the biggest pointspreads of the bowl odds, which were posted Monday.
Considering that odds on three of the Bowl Championship Series games have skyrocketed into double figures, the undercard of games — according to oddsmakers — should provide the most competitive action, which starts Dec. 20 with four games. The marquee matchup that night comes from Las Vegas, where Brigham Young squares off against Arizona. The Cougars are 3.5-point favorites.
The Memphis-South Florida game has the biggest spread at the time of this post, 13 points. Three games are rated tossups: Northern Illinois-Louisiana Tech, Nevada-Maryland and Virginia Tech-Cincinnati.
Oddsmakers expect the GMAC Bowl between Tulsa and Ball State to be highest-scoring game, with the over/under of 79 posted at the Las Vegas Hilton. The Holiday Bowl between Oregon and Oklahoma State has an over/under of 76.5 at the Hilton.
The Boston College-Vanderbilt matchup has the lowest over/under at 39.5.
