In a few days, Barack Obama will become the most powerful man in the free world. The economy is a mess, the number of Americans out of work has reached an alarming rate and the country is bogged down in two wars.
Then there is this little matter of the Bowl Championship Series throwing a block in the way of a playoff.
Obama let his stance in favor of a playoff be known once again last Friday during a press briefing. With Utah attorney general Mark Shurtleff threatening possible legal action against the BCS, there remains a glimmer of hope that college football will ultimately get it right and stage a playoff.

Anyone who advocates that an elected official waste even a moment's time working to change the nature of a sporting event should be barred for voting for the next 2 elections.
College football is your hobby (as well as mine) and only a selfish individual with extremely pathetic priorities would think that it should take precedence over the real issues that we as a nation face.

If college football was to go to a playoff, where will the early rounds be played? Will they be neutral? That won't work, attendance will suck, have it had the higher seed's location? That won't be fair, just imagine the backlash over the seedings especially if a Florida school had to play at Ohio State in early December.
The only reason the playoffs work in the NFL is because only 12 teams make the playoffs and the only neutral site game is the Super Bowl which has 2 weeks for fans to get travel plans together.
As long as Division 1 has over 100 teams, the end of the season bowl's and BCS is the best system.
