The Passion of the Tebow
Tim Tebowmania is officially out of control. After the Florida quarterback made his announcement Sunday that he was returning for his senior season, a gift from the heavens arrived.
A reader sent The Big Lead this image of Tebow in several Christ-like poses.
Seriously, people, get a grip.
Tebow's a terrific young man, one tough customer on the field and just had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, something he will overcome in time for spring ball. But all things considered, the infatuation with Tebow has gone off the charts. He's a quarterback and not a savior.
ESPN's Mel Kiper tried to toss some reality on Tebow's prospects for playing quarterback in the NFL. He resembles Joe Kapp more than Joe Montana and suggested the quarterback might be better off playing another position at the next level.
Chris Applewhite of Barking Carnival had this to say about Tebow: "He’s got decent speed but he’s not quick, and he’s not overly accurate. ... Tebow has the mobility of a tight end and a sllllooooowwww release."
Time will tell if those who doubt Tebow's ability are right or wrong. The kid will have a chance to prove himself in the NFL. But if you're fan of college football, the good news is that it won't happen for another year.
