Today we take a trip down memory lane, back to February 2007, when we asked the question, "Who the hell is William Cole?"
Turns out Cole was some hotshot four-star recruit out of the Lone Star State. On this day, he ended up going through the tiresome cap routine before selecting one from Oklahoma State.
So what happened to Cole?
He was booted off the team before the Holiday Bowl in December.
According to the Oklahoman: "Some of the inner details will likely never be revealed, but in general, Cole's attitude and team involvement suffered in the aftermath of his August knee injury.
"Cole showed signs of attitude problems last year as a freshman, requesting to switch from defensive back to wide receiver, and to play as a true freshman rather than redshirt. But it appeared he had overcome that during the offseason, as coaches looked at him as a significant part of the offense and a dangerous No. 2 receiving option opposite Dez Bryant. Then Cole was injured."
Cole finished his Cowboy career with two receptions for seven yards and one rush for three yards.
Like we've said countless times before, don't put any stock in recruiting rankings. You're too smart for that. Judge a class four or five years after signing day.
