Sam Chi, the BCS Guru, joined me late Saturday night to discuss his projected matchups for the Bowl Championship Series games. This is how he sees it breaking down when the BCS lineup is announced Sunday:
BCS title game: Alabama vs. Texas
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Cincinnati
Fiesta Bowl: Iowa vs. Boise State
Orange Bowl: Texas Christian vs. Georgia Tech
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio State
Had Texas lost, Cincinnati would have passed TCU for the spot opposite Alabama in the BCS title game, according to Sam.
There are 34 bowl games and 71 eligible teams for the 68 postseason spots. Sam said Notre Dame's decision to bypass the bowl season opened a slot for UCLA. Sam also offers projections for other non-BCS games in the podcast, which runs 11:14. You can listen by clicking here.
