And you thought the Southeastern Conference's stranglehold on the Bowl Championship Series title game was about to come to an end.
The BCS Guru projects that Auburn will move into the No. 1 spot when the BCS standings are released Sunday.
Gene Chizik's Tigers, who were No. 4 in the first BCS standings, will get the nod after their 24-17 victory over Louisiana State, which was No. 6 in the first standings.
Oregon, which defeated UCLA, 60-13, will remain No. 2. Boise State, which had a bye, will remain No. 3. The Broncos have the national stage Tuesday when they play host to Louisiana Tech.
Texas Christian, which drilled Air Force, 38-7, is No. 4. Then comes Michigan State, Missouri, Alabama and Utah. Alabama is the only team in the top eight with a loss.
Wisconsin and LSU complete the projected top 10.
The next five: Oklahoma, Ohio State, Stanford, Nebraska and Florida State.
Earlier in the week, the Guru had a few thoughts on the Pacific 10 Conference's decision to stage its title game on a college campus. He called the move "puzzling and alarming."
