Idaho linebacker JoJo Dickson's college career is over after the senior suffered a break of his lower left leg and dislocation of the ankle against New Mexico State. Dickson was blocked by New Mexico State running back Kenny Turner near the end of this play and suffered the injury after catching the foot on Kibbie Dome turf.
Turner was called for a late hit because of the block and apologized after the game (second item) to Vandal coach Robb Akey. On Monday, both Akey and New Mexico State coach DeWayne Walker said the block was clean.
"They're guy was trying to block JoJo; JoJo was trying to tackle the quarterback," Akey said. "It's one of the unfortunate things that comes in the game of football, but I don't think it was a vicious deal."
