The BCS Guru is reporting that Alabama is expected to be atop the first Bowl Championship Series standings, which will be released on Sunday.
The Guru's standings have Louisiana State holding down the No. 2 spot, followed by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Boise State.
The Broncos, who have few challengers in the second half of the season, are in a prime position. Alabama and LSU meet Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa and Oklahoma and Oklahoma State play Dec. 3 in Stillwater. The losers of those games will likely drop below Boise State if the Broncos remain undefeated.
Perhaps the only teams that have a legitimate shot of beating the Broncos are Texas Christian (Nov. 12 at Boise) and San Diego State (Nov. 19 at San Diego).
