UCLA season ticket holders received this email message Wednesday afternoon about preordering tickets to a UCLA-hosted Pacific 12 championship game. Then came Thursday night, when UCLA was routed by Arizona, 48-12.
Here's the highlight from Thursday night's UCLA-Arizona game at Tucson. Watch closely as a man dressed as an official enters from the top of the screen. He attempts to grab the ball from an official, then runs off camera, removes his clothes and streaks around the north end of Arizona Stadium.
While law enforcement wrestle the man to the ground, a brawl starts between Bruin and Wildcat players. Three players were ejected — two from Arizona and one from UCLA.
If you haven't seen the video of the card stunt pulled off Saturday by the 70,585 fans at Iowa's Kinnick Stadium, here it is. The stunt was executed before kickoff against Northwestern.
Having attended an Iowa game or two back in the day, the amazing part had to be that officials were somehow able to get fans to leave the tailgate early. Frankly, it takes a lot to separate Hawkeye fans from beer.
After the jump is a time-lapse video of the game shot from the north end zone by Cedar Rapids Gazette photojournalist Brian Ray. The card stunt appears at the 40-second mark.
Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald has some advice for Missouri: Don't do it.
"The University of Missouri could be on the verge of making a stupendous mistake of impatience, borne out of a handful of university and state leaders wanting to wipe egg off their face from last year’s Big Ten debacle with a move to the SEC, a league that has neither the academic pedigree nor the competitive atmosphere suited for such a starchy Midwestern institution," McKewon writes.
"Mizzou in a ditch fight with SEC programs who embrace cheating and slippery ethics like a favorite uncle? The Tigers' so-so fan base traveling to South Carolina, Georgia and Auburn? In trade for what? A little more TV money? Long-term security?"
McKewon is spot on. Read the column by clicking here.
Update: Gholston has been suspended for Saturday's game against Wisconsin.
William Gholston and his Michigan State teammates were busy piling up the penalties in Saturday's game against rival Michigan, totaling an Oakland Raider-like 13 for 124 yards. In the clip above, Gholston dives on the pile late before grabbing Denard Robinson's facemask and giving it a good twist.
