Mississippi produced four posters, three of which featured players. Mike Marry, top, is a junior linebacker who led the teams in tackles last season. Receiver Donte Moncrief led the team in receptions. Defensive back Charles Sawyer had a team-high four interceptions. All of the posters were photographed by Michael Thompson Jr. and designed by Dan Pelligrino.
Watch USC running back Silas Redd get dragged into the end zone by left tackle Aundrey Walker during Saturday's game against Stanford. The play gave the Trojans a 7-0 lead, but they lost, 21-14.
Yes, teammates often assist a runner in gaining additional yardage and there is no call, but rarely is the infraction this blatant. Rule 9, Section 3, Article 2B states: "The runner shall not grasp a teammate; and no other player of his team shall grasp, push, lift or charge into him to assist him in forward progress."
The infraction is a five-yard penalty.
This was probably Walker's best play of the game. The sophomore likely will lose his starting job this week to freshman Max Tuerk.
USC is no stranger to getting a helping hand around the goal line. Remember the "Bush Push" of 2005? The video is below.
Tough start for Boston College, which has staggered to a 1-2 start. The Eagles have Saturday off before high-flying Clemson rolls into Chesnut Hill on Sept. 29.
It weather was perfect, the tailgating scene was happening and North Carolina State was ready to play its home opener on Saturday. South Alabama was the opponent, and the Wolfpack responded with a 31-7 victory.
Wiz correspondent Greg Laughlin made his first trip to Carter-Finley Stadium to check out the scene. There are more photos after the jump, and you can check his full gallery by clicking here.
OK, it didn't work out at Michigan, but Rich Rodriguez appears to have found a home at Arizona. The Wildcats are 3-0, with the most impressive victory coming Sept. 8 against Oklahoma State. But it gets cranked up notch in a big, big way Saturday. Arizona travels to Eugene to take on speedy Oregon.
Minnesota is off to its first 3-0 start since 2008, but the Golden Gophers appear to have lost quarterback MarQueis Gray for two to four weeks because of a left high-ankle sprain he suffered in Saturday's 28-23 victory against Western Michigan. Max Shortell replaced Gray in the second quarter and completed 10 of 17 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. He had one pass intercepted. Minnesota plays host to Syracuse on Saturday night.
