Stiff Arm From Hell

Kentucky's Ventrell Jenkins, all 285 pounds of him, rumbles down the sideline with a game-winning fumble return in the Liberty Bowl. In the process, he rings the bell of East Carolina's Patrick Pinkney with a stiff arm that sends the quarterback's mouthpiece flying. Pirate defensive coordinator Greg Hudson says some "knowledgeable" people claim Jenkins' knee had touched the ground before his rumble with the fumble.

Don't Mess With East Carolina Cops

Check out the policeman in the lower right-hand corner, putting a Rodney King-like beating on a fan after East Carolina's victory against West Virginia. Officials are still investigating.

Cops Get In Their Licks After East Carolina's Win

East Carolina beats West Virginia, then the cops beat up the hometown Pirate fans. The biggest victory in team history was marred by police who reportedly engaged in acts of brutality and excessive use of force on some fans who stormed the field. You can catch a brief glimpse of the some of the alleged police thuggery at the 25-second mark in the above video. East Carolina officials say they are investigating. Yes, it did get rough on the field, but ESPN's Holly Rowe understood the spirit of it, as did Skip Holtz. As for the officer in the background, he apparently had a double shot of testosterone at halftime.

East Carolina can make some early noise with games against Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Also on the nonconference portion of the schedule are North Carolina State and Virginia. Thanks to Michael.
