Ohio State

Ohio State was thankful to put the turbulence of the offseason behind it last Saturday when the Buckeyes opened with a resounding victory over Akron. A cushy early schedule should allow Ohio State to be 5-0 or 4-1 entering an Oct. 8 game at Nebraska.

Roy Miracle, who died July 1 at age 80, was so devoted to the Ohio State Buckeyes that he helped spell O-H-I-O after his death.

His daughter, Jill Miracle, who is second from left, sent this image to an Ohio State site that displays images of fans showing their Ohio pride.

Tressel's Successor? Odds Favor Meyer

With Jim Tressel stepping down at Ohio State, the 2011 coaching carousel got cranked up early. Bodog has posted odds on who might be the next Buckeye coach. The favorite is Urban Meyer at 3/2. Then comes Florida State assistant Mark Stoops (5/2) and ESPN analyst Jon Gruden (3/1).

Also on the list are Nebraska's Bo Pelini (10/1) and Michigan State's Mark Dantonio (12/1).
