Today we take a trip down memory lane, back to February 2007, when we asked the question, "Who the hell is William Cole?"

Turns out Cole was some hotshot four-star recruit out of the Lone Star State. On this day, he ended up going through the tiresome cap routine before selecting one from Oklahoma State.

So what happened to Cole?

Rich Guys Have All the Fun

One has to wonder if Phil Knight and T. Boone Pickens might have a little side bet on Tuesday night's Holiday Bowl between Oregon and Oklahoma State in San Diego.

Knight, 70, and Pickens, 80, have combined to give more than half-a-billion dollars to their universities, most of it going to the football programs. Knight's gifts have helped make the Ducks a perennial contender, with the team averaging more than eight wins a year with only one losing season in the last 15.

Pickens recently forked over another $63 million to Oklahoma State to ensure the stadium expansion project would be completed at his alma mater. He previously gave $165 million to fund athletics at Oklahoma State.

So which one of these cats has more cash? It's not even close.

Oklahoma-Oklahoma St.: Plenty of Good Seats Available

There could be up to 15,000 empty seats at Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday night for the showdown between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

The reason is that Oklahoma State officials decided last spring not to make single-game tickets available for the game. To get a seat, you had to purchase a season ticket. The move was designed to lure Oklahoma fans, many of whom can't fathom a Sooner game going on without their presence, to purchase season tickets for their rival.

The plan worked. Oklahoma State sold a record 39,600 season tickets, an increase of over 6,000 from 2007. In fact, season tickets are still being sold just days before the Cowboys' last home game of 2008.

Switzer Predicted Oklahoma State's Rise to Power

Former Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer saw this coming, saying in 2007 that T. Boone Pickens' riches were going to bring a winner to Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are No. 6 in the BCS and it's already being debated if this is the greatest Oklahoma State team ever. A victory Saturday over No. 1 Texas would make believers out of a lot of people.
