Best's Horrifying Landing After Touchdown

California running back Jahvid Best was knocked unconscious after scoring this touchdown in the second quarter against Oregon State. Best was strapped to a board, loaded on a gurney and wheeled away wearing an oxygen mask. Officials at a local hospital said he suffered a concussion.

Sun Bowl Can't Come Fast Enough for Oregon State

To add to the Beavers' troubles, third-string running back Jeremy Francis left the team to attend to his sick mother in Florida. He won't be available for the Dec. 31 Sun Bowl matchup against Pittsburgh.

Normally that isn't a big concern, but with starter Jacquizz Rodgers expected to miss the game because of a second-degree AC joint sprain, that leaves freshman Ryan McCants as the only experienced running back on the roster.

USC was blown off the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and could never get a grip on Jacquizz Rodgers, who rushed for 186 yards in 37 carries and scored two touchdowns.
