Joe Paterno has begun using a cane to walk. The photo on the left shows Paterno as he left his postgame news conference last Saturday after Penn State's victory over Wisconsin. The other image is from Tuesday's news conference with beat reporters in State College.
Paterno, 81, was vague when asked Tuesday for specifics regarding his injury.
"I don't know for sure what it is. It's probably something to do with the hip," he said. "I haven't got time to spend going through a lot of examinations and things like that. I'm going to wait until the season's over."
He added: "Some days, I really feel like I can go out there and almost jog. Other days, it's really sore. I'm just going to play it by ear, play it one day at a time, and then, when the season's over, have somebody take a look at it; get it fixed up."
