Watch Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes go for the eye gouge on Georgia running back Washaun Ealey. Thanks to Adam.
The evidence is damning on this one, and Spikes should be suspended. It will be interesting to see how Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive handles this one. Perhaps the league office will take the lead of its officiating crews and just look the other way.
Update: The high-definition version of the play is below. Thanks to Stan!
Totally unnecessary late hit by Arizona's Vuna Tuihalamaka, who flattens Washington's James Johnson during the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game in Seattle. The Wildcats led at this point, but eventually paid the price, with the Huskies rallying for a 36-33 victory.
Watch Purdue fifth-year senior guard Zach Reckman send a right hand into the ribs of Northern Illinois' Sean Progar after the freshman defensive end recovered a fumble on the final play to secure the Huskies' 28-21 victory.
Notre Dame center Eric Olsen is punched by Michigan's Jonas Mouton during Saturday's game in Ann Arbor. Keep your eye on the lower left corner. Fighting Irish coach Charlie Weis, who expressed displeasure with the refereeing after the 38-34 loss, has sent video of the incident to the Big Ten office. Rich Rod says he doesn't know what Charlie is talking about. Guess he was too busy practicing to review film.
Thanks to Andrew for bringing this incident to our attention. Let us also use this post to ask for your help in tracking down these cowardly acts. At the end of the season, we assemble all of the clips and have readers vote on the cheapest shot of the year.
Here are the links to cheapest shots of the 2008, 2007 and 2006 seasons.
Oregon's ugly 19-8 loss at Boise State had an ugly ending. Duck players were seen fighting among themselves, and LeGarrette Blount landed a solid right hand to the jaw of Bronco defensive end Byron Hout, who said something to the running back after hitting him on the left shoulder.
Boise State coach Chris Petersen stepped in and restrained Hout after Blount's punch, but members of the Oregon staff were nowhere to be found, apparently eager to get off the field and out of town.
Blount exchanged words with fans on his way to the locker room and continued his outburst into the tunnel, with police and stadium security stepping in. Another video showing Hout hitting Blount on the left shoulder and fans yelling at the Oregon player is after the jump, along with several screen grabs.
