Fun in the Sun Bowl

The Sun Bowl celebrated its 75th anniversary Wednesday. While the game was forgettable — Oregon State beat Pittsburgh, 3-0 — the halftime ceremony was not. The Village People performed "YMCA" and the crowd of 49,037 attempted to set a Guinness World Record for most people dancing to the disco anthem. It would appear the crowd surpassed the record of 13,588 set July 4, 2001 at a minor league baseball game in Omaha. Leonard Martinez of the El Paso Times shot video of the performance. The newspaper's Jay Koester also got in the fun by checking out the tailgaters before the game.
