A Final Note About the Poster Schedule Series

It was a record year for poster schedules on The Wiz. A whopping 108 have been displayed, besting the previous mark 104. All the posters can be viewed by clicking here.

If you are interested in purchasing posters, try contacting the college's bookstore. If they don't have the answer, chances are they can point you in the right direction.

Murray State

Murray State of Division I-AA opened with a 58-14 loss at Missouri but rebounded with a resounding 83-14 victory over something called Campbellsville of NAIA.

Northwest Missouri State

Division II Northwest Missouri State opens its season Thursday night against Saginaw Valley State.

Samford

Samford of Division I-AA opens its season Friday against Georgia State at the Georgia Dome. The Bulldogs will be without coach Pat Sullivan, who will miss the game because he's continuing to recover from back surgery. Sullivan is the 1971 Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn.

Montana

The NCAA put the hammer down on Division I-AA Montana last month. The governing body said the school and former coach Robin Pflugrad failed to monitor the program.

The NCAA said boosters provided extra benefits to players, including bail money and free legal representation. The yearlong investigation also found other perks, including free meals, clothing, lodging and transportation. Things got so out of hand, even the New York Times dispatched a reporter to Missoula.

Thus, the program is on three years of probation.

The Grizzlies are coming off a 5-6 season under Mick Delaney.

Montana State

These are good times at Division I-AA Montana State, which has won or shared the last three Big Sky Conference championships. The Bobcats, coached by Rob Ash, have 30-8 record in that span.

Montana State plays at Southern Methodist on Sept. 7.
