Tommy Tuberville rode into Lubbock and — in the eyes of many Texas Tech fans — treated the coaching job like a rented mule.
Tuberville lasted three seasons as Red Raider coach. The fact he took over for the popular Mike Leach was problem No. 1. A 20-17 record didn't help, either.
When Cincinnati called, Tuberville was gone and the divorce was final.
Enter Kliff Kingsbury. His resume is sparse — only three seasons as a fulltime assistant coach — but the former Texas Tech quarterback is the hire fans wanted.
