Here's a play Wofford's Stephon Shelton would like to forget. He fields a kickoff by Northern Iowa's Tyler Sievertsen in the end zone during Saturday's Division I-AA playoff game. Instead of taking a knee and ending the play, Shelton walks casually in the end zone before Zach Cutkomp of UNI knocks the ball out of his hands.
The ball rolls around the end zone for several seconds before Phil Wright of the Panthers pounces on it for a touchdown. It turned out to be the winning score in Northern Iowa's 28-21 win at Cedar Falls, Iowa.
And yes, you read that correctly. It was a playoff game. They actually have a playoff system in place in all levels of college football except Division I-A. Shocking, I know. Perhaps some day they will get with the program and see that the only proper way of conducting a postseason is to use rankings and computers to determine the best two teams.
