Let the Voting Begin for Poster Primary No. 1

Now it's up to our readers. Pick the best poster from the previous seven that have been displayed on the Wiz. To see all the posters in this primary, click here.

This is the first of at least five primaries and voting for all primaries will remain open until two days (48 hours) after the final team poster has been published. As a point of reference, last year the site displayed 54 posters.

The winner of this primary will advance to the final, where readers will have the opportunity to vote on the Wiz Readers' Choice 2009 Poster of the Year. Voting in that poll will remain open for one week.

North Texas

The Mean Green finished 1-11 in 2008 and Todd Dodge is 3-21 in two seasons as coach. It won't be any easier in 2009. North Texas is projected to finish last in the Sun Belt Conference. Nonconference games include road tests at Ball State and Alabama and home games against Ohio and Army. Poster designed by Old Hat Creative.

Florida Atlantic

The Owls have three nonconference games of note, starting with the Sept. 5 opener at Nebraska. On Sept. 19, Florida Atlantic travels to South Carolina. The Owls play host to Wyoming on Oct. 3. Thanks to Dexter!

Tulsa

Two nonconference games of note for the Golden Hurricane, who are coming off an 11-win season. The first comes Sept. 19 at Oklahoma. On Oct. 14, a Wednesday, Tulsa plays host to Boise State. Thanks to Donald!

Central Michigan

Central Michigan, chasing its third Mid-American Conference title in four seasons, doubled its pleasure with two posters. The top image features the team, led by quarterback Dan LeFevour, who is left of coach Butch Jones. The bottom image incorporates fans, cheerleaders and the band. Thanks to Rob!

New Mexico State

DeWayne Walker, the former UCLA defensive coordinator, takes over as Aggie coach, replacing Hal Mumme. Walker has a lot of work to do. New Mexico State won only 11 games in four seasons under Mumme and was 3-9 last season.

This might be the last poster schedule you see from New Mexico State. Athletic director McKinley Boston announced a $1.5 million reduction in his department's budget this fiscal year.
